The Cotswolds have always been looked upon as the Heart of England. It is one of the few regions with an architectural style all of its own and the steeply pitched roofs, stone mullions and dormer windows are typical. Built almost exclusively in warm yellow Cotswold stone, this delightful village has such a unique appeal to visitors and residents alike. Regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England, Bourton-on-the-Water has more than its share of Cotswold houses and cottages, many of them three hundred years old, some dating back to Elizabethan times four hundred years ago. There is plenty to see and do here……" Chairman, Chamber of Commerce.
Bourton is a new venue for ATCF and we were very lucky to get any dates at all for Victoria Hall as it's so well used. As you may have noticed, our Summer Fair is on a Thursday. This is another new venture for us but, as Bourton is so popular, the difference between a weekday and a Saturday will probably go unnoticed. We visited on a wet Wednesday in January and there were 22 coaches in the car park.
Victoria Hall is in Victoria Street, next to the Perfumery. It is very strictly governed by the local Chamber of Commerce. We are not allowed to use our banners, or to put up posters and everything for sale at our fairs must be made by the stallholder in order that it cannot be found for sale on the High St and be in direct competition with members of the Chamber of Commerce. This fits in with the ATCF ethos nicely.
The Venue: Victoria Hall is small and we have the use of two rooms on the ground floor, and the kitchen area. As space is tight, display areas are confined to tabletops if we are fully booked. Should we have un-booked spaces, then we can all spread out a little. Please be aware of this if you have floor stands or racks or any other display item that takes up room.
