Craft Fairs for the Crafter
Tetbury Market Hall
April 12th, June 28th
& October 11th
2008
“Situated in the 'Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', the Tetbury of today is one of the most beautiful Cotswold towns with its elegant buildings creating a real sense of timeless beauty, — a delight for those who visit this jewel of the Cotswolds. It is a thriving market town built around its outstanding 17th century Market Hall.”
Tetbury Tourist Information Centre
We visited the delightful Market Hall on a very miserable January Day, and Tetbury was busy despite the weather. Every Saturday there is a market held underneath the Hall, you can see people under the hall in the picture above. This will be a big crowd puller for our fairs, although the town is always busy. There are many high end boutique shops and a host of antique emporiums which draw people to Tetbury from far and wide. The hall is the main feature, right in the very centre of the town.
This isn’t a good photo, but it does give a good id
ea of the amount of character this venue has. It’s virtually unchanged since 1655, and has solid oak beams, pillars and flooring. The floor is very uneven, and there are steps up to the studded front doors, and then a few more into the hall itself, so this venue is not suitable for anyone who cannot manage stairs.
There is no disabled access as this is a listed building. The room is surrounded by mullioned windows, which look out on to the town centre from every aspect.
Stalls
Each space costs £40.00. As this is a small venue, you may only book one table. As with all venues, we will aim to get a good balance of crafts. Please email before booking to check if we still have a space for your particular craft. Tables These are supplied included the cost. They are standard trestle size, 6ft by 2ft. Chairs are also supplied, two to a table, but there are plenty of spares chairs. If we are fully booked (16 spaces), there will be no extra room for hanging rails, racks or other freestanding displays . However, should we have less than 16 crafters, then there will be extra space available. Quite often we do have cancellations the night before, or people who just don’t turn up, so we then have extra space and we can spread out.Electricity
Can be supplied, and sockets are placed one to a table . Please bring extension leads if you require more than one power point. Sockets are placed around the walls and, as this is a listed building, it might be hard to supply power to the all of the tables in the centre of the room. We will place crafters who need electricity around the walls, and those who don’t need power in the centre.
Parking
There is a free long stay car park on the edge of the town, about 10 minutes walk away. There are short stay parking places adjacent to the Market Hall which we can use for unloading, but as it will be market day, these bays will be at a premium. The Railway Yard car park is marked on the map in the info pack.
Kitchen
There is a little kitchen, so we will bring free tea & coffee facilities for crafters’ use, but please bring your own mugs!
